If you've been around while the Tesla tech id="hidden12" class="buttons"> tries to sort out the gaps and height differences between the body panels you know it's not just how these panels are attached - these problems are deep. (My Y is still not right.) The rear megacasting replacing 70 individual parts and also eliminates all the tolerances between those parts as they are assembled. So by the time the body panels are attached, they're being attached at points that have much less accumulated error.
And of course we'd all want a Model Y with megacastings, better paint and the 4680 batteries (and more range) coming out of Austin over the 'old school' ones (like mine) coming out of Fremont. This should give us a glimpse of demand. If Tesla lowers the price of old school Fremont Y's then demand is a bit soft, if however Austin 'new school' Y's have a premium price - then demand is strong. And if you don't have the money for the Austin Y and you're all worried, look into all the older Model S's and Model X's that are still out there. They're great EVs, batteries in great condition, and resale prices not that low. (BMWs and Mercedes Benzes and other German luxury brands drop precipitously in value because out of warranty repairs are so expensive. Compare that to a Tesla that has almost zero repair costs.)

What is the REAL end game????
I believe the reason Tesla now has a factory in Texas is due to a more business friendly environment i.e. lower taxes regulations etc.
If Elon and company are as smart as I think they are they will not make any more improvements in Fremont and move all the manufacturing to Texas as soon as it is possible. It looks like they have plenty of room for expansion in Texas.
A tax credit would be a wonderful incentive to have people like myself convert from and ICE vehicle to EV.
I have heard over the years how the party in control wants a cleaner environment which Ev's can provide. If they really believe what they have been saying then they should pass appropriate tax credit legislation ASAP. ....وسعت 2

Even then, I feel like Tesla will adopt that technology and integrate it faster than everyone else and continue their insane lead. This along with their complete disrespect for privacy and Right to Repair is a sure set outcome for a nightmare. If they can just open source just a few of their innovations like they promised and open up the supercharger network would almost completely flip my opinion on Tesla.
