@jasonsillett5572منذ 3 سنوات Hi Keith great build , instead of the plastic door stop things I used cut up cheapy plastic chopping boards for the legs on my picnic benches , they made id="hidden3" class="buttons"> perfect barriers to stop moisture and to stop legs splitting . They really do extended the life of them . Another one is find a playground manufacturer and ask them for any small of cuts the plastic they use as that comes in really funky colours and adds a little something extra . I do have some small bits if you want them as I’m not far from you ....وسعت 3

@TheFurnitureArtisanمنذ 3 سنوات Nice project. I’ve made a few various shaped and sized outdoor seating over the years. The savings are great.
A tip for anyone who may be inted="hidden4" class="buttons">rested. As an alternative to your ‘door stop feet’, I’ve have added about 20mm of epoxy resin to the bottoms of legs(make a well with tape and fill with the resin). No wood in contact with wet floors and it seems to withstand the inevitable dragging around the patio. .

@neilf4128منذ 3 سنوات Your fast becoming a master-craftsman. I really appreciate your no nonsense approach to just about everything. Its funny though, even though outdoor furniture id="hidden5" class="buttons"> is so expensive, there's no way even a DIYer will pay pennies for materials needed. Keith, awesome job as usual. ....وسعت

@robertbamford8266منذ 3 سنوات Great looking results. Not sure about PT wood. Hate working with it when not necessary. As far as I can tell it requires an oil based primer. Our experience id="hidden7" class="buttons"> with a similar project led us to find available cushions and size the furniture to the cushions. Still the most expensive part. Thanks for the video. ....وسعت 1

  • @
@thebushyoneمنذ 3 سنوات Should do a follow up video by making an outdoor sofa swing
  • @
@outoftheburroughمنذ 3 سنوات They look fab, a tip on the cushions/seat depth, have the cushions overhang the seat front edge by about 2cm so you don't get the rail in the back id="hidden9" class="buttons"> of your knees.
&The cushions are water resistant not water proof so don't leave them out in the rain

@avory321منذ 3 سنوات Great project. In the past for a similar project for the feet I used pound land plastic chopping boards. Cut them smaller than the wood so you can't id="hidden11" class="buttons"> see them, then some PU glue and a couple of brad nails to hold it in place. ....وسعت 1

@andrewarcher880منذ 3 سنوات A good way to protect the legs from soaking up moisture is to coat the end grain with epoxy resin, just use masking tape around the bottom but leave it id="hidden12" class="buttons"> proud by around 3 to 4 mm causing a damn for the epoxy to sit in whilst it hardens. Great project mate. ....وسعت 1

@cjhificationمنذ 3 سنوات Looks very nice, and possibly something to offer as a commission piece via your Etsy shop, sure some others would love it and it's probably better id="hidden13" class="buttons"> built than the other offerings at £1000 you mentioned. Maybe they are using better wood for it than construction lumber though when I consider it further.
    As always, enjoyed and inspired.

  • @
@BensWorkshopمنذ 3 سنوات Keeping wood off the ground is the key part I think. When I built my workshop the wooden walls are on concrete blocks with a damp proof course for just that reason.
  • @
@bigpete4227منذ 3 سنوات I’m just about to make something similar and have been taking photos of park benches.
  • @
@hdwoodshopمنذ 3 سنوات Great video. I was thinking for extra safety to apply epoxy to the end grain of the legs. Then use the stoppers. They look great!

@robgullenمنذ 3 سنوات The feet - I looked at the door-stop idea for an outdoor table I've just made (using the granite sink cut out from our new kitchen worktops - with id="hidden17" class="buttons"> the edges polished by the sypplier - and a recycled timber frame) - but decided to buy some of the plastic buffers that are part of the headboard fittings on most beds . .. drilling the legs and fitting threaded inserts to fix the plastic discs (about 15mm thick so enough to keep the legs clear of surface water) ....وسعت
  • @
@stevenclarke5606منذ 3 سنوات Nice job, I might give it a go , as you said the commercially available versions are extremely expensive or very poorly made and flimsy, as I don’t have a bench saw I’ll have to make some adjustments to make it easier for me. ....وسعت
  • @
@williammoore4101منذ 3 سنوات for the bottom of the feet, you can put a thin layer of epoxy. works great for outdoor furniture
  • @
@buddythompson5284منذ 3 سنوات I can't remember where at the moment, (I think maybe the @WoodWhisperer was one) but I've seen two recent videos where people have used tape around id="hidden19" class="buttons"> the end of the legs, extending past the ends, to form a casting form of sorts that they then fill with epoxy. This gives them solid moisture-resistant feet for the legs. ....وسعت

@kiritladva620منذ 2 سنوات Great video thanks - I’ll be purchasing the plans from Etsy!
A few questions though, what type of wood preserver are you using? And do you think it would be ok to build a longer sofa with same design? Closer to a 3 seater in size? I presume will need an additional set of legs in the middle to support? Thanks in advance. ....وسعت

@stevethetrixterمنذ 3 سنوات I'm just making one of these after downloading your plans, really enjoying it so far. @stevehough8528منذ 3 سنوات Those plastic doorstops as feet may well fail over time. I don't think the cheaper ones are UV stabilised and I prefer the rubber versions.
