Concrete Canvas Channel Lining - Coalcleugh, Northumberland, UK (Coal Authority)

Concrete Canvas® (CC) was specified as a channel lining solution on a scheme to prevent further contamination of the nearby river ecology. Coalcleugh is an abandoned metal mine in Northumberland; the site experiences high levels of surface water, which erodes spoil heaps and leads to contamination of the river. CC was used to line and formalise a drainage system on the site to prevent further erosion and, in turn, contamination. The project was funded through the Water and Abandoned Metal Mines Programme, a partnership between the Coal Authority, the Environment Agency and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). The North East Local Enterprise Partnership contributed funding from their Local Growth Fund, part of the Northern Powerhouse. All credit for this video goes to the Coal Authority.
