“I wanted to save the world, you know. I grew up in the time of acid rain and a lot of political instability, and I just had that sense. I wanted to do my bit, so I started physics because I thought, yeah, I want some technical solutions”. GNS Scientist Dr Nancy Bertler shares her story of being a woman in science. Nancy is part of the Melting Ice and Rising Seas team which was awarded the Prime Minister's Science Prize in 2019 for their breakthrough discovery that Antarctica’s ice sheets melted rapidly in the past and could have a significant impact on global sea level rise over the next 80 years. #storiesfromourscientists
